Most great things in life generally require a lengthy wait. Interestingly, in the waiting we discover that the wait is just as enriching as the thing we're waiting for.
Join with RiverSally in waiting for this "baby" to birth.
What a moment in anime history it will be when this project takes to the sky!
Ahhhhhhh!
LOVE IS LIKE… is RIVERSALLY’s 1st Indie Pop Single, to be released in March, 2012.
RiverSally wrote LOVE IS LIKE… in 2001 while creating songs and other material for a kid’s TV concept of hers that she was pitching to industry contacts. The song evolved as RiverSally was contemplating how to explain to children what love is.
While thinking on this point, Sally remembered a creative writing exercise when she was a 4th grade student. Each child was told to create a book. Each page was to share a story or idea about what love is. Each page was to start with the words, “Love is like…”
Sally remembers this time vividly. She remembered writing: “Love is like being friends with Tomo,” a Japanese classmate she loved playing with as a friend. (It was very unusual to have a Japanese classmate back in the 1970’s in Australia!)
Sally also remembered a retro, 1970’s sticker on a Bible she was given as a child from her Sunday School leader at Church. The sticker read: “Love is patient,” a quote from the Bible. This got Sally thinking about what else the Bible said about love… “Love never fails, love always protects, always believes, always perseveres…” (The Bible, 1 Corinthians 13: 7, 8) Reflecting upon these ideas and having already written the water-like piano introduction, other ideas for lyrics emerged: Love is like an ocean… Love is like a great gift… Love makes us feel warm and safe… and so the song was birthed.
Sally had the lyrics translated by a friend, Takuyou Hara, in 2005. Since that time, Sally waited for what felt like “the right time” to release the song into Japan. Sean & Yumi (Japanese neighbours) assisted with edits in 2011. Mao (Sally’s colleague and friend) styled the voiceover in June 2011. Despite “a cough,” the vocal recording was in May 2011 (while Sally unknowingly had pneumonia…!).
While watching one piece of footage of the 3/11 tsunami disaster in Japan, Sally’s heart was deeply moved. This was the defining moment: It was time to release the song. From that time onward, RiverSally has laboured to prepare for the release of “Love is Like…”.
RiverSally will give her song to the people of Japan in commemoration of the 1st Anniversary of 3/11, to let the people of Japan know that they are valued and much-loved…

"And the angel showed me a pure river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb, coursing down the centre of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations.
No longer will anything be cursed. For the throne of God and of the Lamb will be there, and his servants will worship him. And they will see his face, and his name will be written on their foreheads. And there will be no night there - no need for lamps or sun - for the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever.
The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." Let each one who hears them say, "Come." Let the thirsty ones come - anyone who wants to. Let them come and drink the water of life without charge.
He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon!" Amen! Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you all."

"...Let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people. Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help... Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon. The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a re-builder of walls and a restorer of homes."

RIVER ALBUM is the first release in the RIVER SERIES by RiverSally.
Interestingly, RiverSally's name as an artist was first coined as a result of the title of this Indie album.
The musical content of RIVER is derived from two main sources: Original material composed by RiverSally, and traditional hymn tunes (some of which date back to ancient times).
Compositionally, RIVER is "through-composed," meaning that each track has been weaved together as an organic whole, from beginning to end, creating a context for journeying. While each track can certainly be enjoyed in and of it's own merit, RiverSally's intent for the album was that it be listened to as a whole, in one sitting.
River was mostly recorded at Studio PR, owned and operated by sound engineer/producer Peter Wallis, and his wife Lorraine. Completion of the recording of RIVER was celebrated with a "soft launch" for family and friends in November 2007 in a SilverScreen movie cinema in Sydney. Themed as a "journey" with those in attendance "boarding" to journey down the river, the journey was followed by a relaxed and intimate party in the SilverScreen Lounge. The marketing plan being hatched at that time was put on hold, as 2 weeks after the soft launch, Sally discovered the great joy that she was pregnant with her first child...!
Being a nurturer at heart, Sally then focused her efforts and heart's priority on her newborn, Samuel James, born in August 2008. While a full-time, stay-at-home mother for her toddler, the year 2010 was dedicated to building her platform and establishing a strong foundation for RiverSally's future as an international recording artist and creative producer.
RIVER experienced its much-awaited international release in December 2010 and people across the world have been journeying with RIVER ever since...!
RiverSally’s love for the people of Japan is so great, she creates songs and other creative things especially for Japan. RiverSally’s first love-gift for Japan is her Indie Pop Single, titled “Love is Like…”. Other songs are in the pipeline and hopefully an album, too!
